Link   San Francisco -- USS Pampanito WWII Submarine
My boys always enjoyed going on this real WWII-era submarine. You can walk the length of the boat, with accompanying audio tour, and explore the torpedo room, engine room, and crew's and officer's quarters. Watch your head and knees as your make your way through the tour.
Link   Happy Hollow Park and Zoo
Happy Hollow Park in San Jose provides hands-on experience with many animals, with the main focus on "little ones" between the ages of 2-10. There are creative play areas, children's rides and Puppet Shows.
  Link   Vasona Lake County Park
Vasona Park - in Los Gatos - has a beautiful lake and surrounding bike trail. Boats are available and there is an adjacent park with an old-fashioned carousel and train ride for the kiddies (and young at heart). Close to downtown Los Gatos, where you can retreat for a meal after all the fresh air and activity.
  Link   Great America
Love a good roller coaster? Can't decide between a theme park and a water park? Great America has both, plus a kiddie area with rides and activities for the younger ones.
Link   The Tech Museum of Innovation (San Jose)
The Tech is singularly focused on inspiring the innovator in everyone it reaches. Truly hands-on and interactive exhibits, divided among themed galleries, offer guests a truly memorable experience. The Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater and various unique museum programs make a visit to the bright, mango-colored Tech one you won't soon forget.
  Link   Aquarium of the Bay
If you end up at Pier 39 in San Francisco, the Aquarium is worth a visit. It is very kid-oriented. The best part is the walkway "under the bay" where you are surrounded by rays, sharks, octopus--very cool. There are good touchpools as well. P.S. If you are into aquariums, the Monterey Bay Aquarium (2 hour drive) is definitely worth a visit! http://www.mbayaq.org/
